DISCIPLINE AND THE MARTIAL ARTS

Teens, discipline and martial arts

Success is the fruit of Discipline

My father always says:

“They are no bad children, only bad parents, and if a child doesn’t learn it’s because the child hasn’t been taught!”

Discipline is often misunderstood and thrown by the wayside because staying focused, staying concentrated and staying committed is difficult – it feels boring to most. However, staying focused, concentrated and committed is the fruit of Discipline and is the way to achieve your goals, your dreams and your heart’s
desires. Now we are talking big picture, life-changing stuff.

The biggest names in the world today, whether they are in the arts, business or sports, have achieved their goals through methods that have taught them discipline. Discipline is practical, it’s tough, it’s frustrating, its built from grit and iron, but ultimately it is the straight and narrow path to success. Sorry but that’s how it is.

Children (and adults), once they get over the initial frustration, will actually want the firm and friendly hand of discipline. Discipline is not about control and neither is marital arts. Discipline is about reprogramming yourself to achieve the best you can be. That is exactly what martial arts promotes through repetitive
training, repetitive focus, and understanding that the hard yakka is the way to achieving the best possible YOU. Martial Arts teaches you to carry on and not quit even when things get hard. Martial arts help you to keep going and not giving up just before the miracle happens.

Parents are the backbone behind their child achieving the best they can be. If the parent quits the child will quit, and never learn to find who they really are and how much power they have.

Premier Martial Arts understands the necessity of discipline and sometimes appears to push too hard, however at Premier Academy we understand what Bruce Lee meant when he said;

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

We owe our children the chance to be the best they can be in life and to enable them to rise to the occasion when confronted with a challenge.

Discipline will help them find this power.
